Exhibition: La Biennale di Venezia

// June, 2016 //
First images of our participation in the Mexican Pavilion at the 2016 Biennale di Venezia, where our rammed earth sustainable social housing proposal Casa O, its exhibited as also a “DIY” brochure to self-build a rammed earth house similar to Casa O. (Photos by Gonzalo Elizarrarás)

“I really liked  the Mexican pavilion, Javier and Pablo did a very thorough job where what matters is the content. It has a very strong content but is shown in such a way that feels very sophisticated, and I liked that because it is a pavilion that has a lot of strength. I love the idea of the manuals, it goes great with our reality, exposes it and puts to it a pretty face.”
-Tatiana Bilbao, Architect.

“I was pleased to see young Mexican architects exhibited, people who do not necessarily have much exposure all the time. And I was pleased to see so many people of Mexico physically in the hall, is a good thing that we begin to be more present and more interwoven with the international architectural culture beyond the own culture of our country.
-Iñaki Echevarría, Architect

“(To be honest) …I had some concern that with so many things selected the exhibition could be a little confusing and it was not, I liked how they presented it. I’m interested in this idea of presenting how to build not only the architecture but the knowledge of architecture. This idea of manuals, and the knowledge of how to build something goes from the specialists to the people (and back), how that knowledge is distributed, and then how it is produced and reproduced its very interesting. It is the strongest part of the Mexican pavilion, I think it could have been reinforced still a bit more but I enjoyed it as how they chose the theme and how they worked it.
-Alejandro Hernández, Architect, Content Editor at Arquine Magazine
